Deon Edwards is the creator and owner of MyDBCF.org, including the domain name, the physical website, all its subdomains, and the content. Deon Edwards was entitled to be paid by Diamond Bar Community Foundation for the money he put toward the hard costs of building the website as he created it, but the organization did NOT do so. This creative work, physical product and website remain active solely as an act of community service by Deon Edwards to benefit community residents.

John Forbing

John Forbing has been a steadfast community leader in the City of Diamond Bar long before it was incorporated. He served as President of the Diamond Bar Improvement Association, and served on the first City Council of the newly incorporated city in 1989. He went on to be Mayor in 1991.

A long-time insurance professional, John has served on a myriad of nonprofit organizations, including Diamond Bar Breakfast Lions, Diamond Bar-Walnut YMCA, Walnut Valley Unified School District Board of Education, and Pomona Chamber of Commerce.

Stan

Stan Liu

Stan Liu was elected to the Diamond Bar City Council in November 2020. Prior he served as a City Parks and Recreation Commissioner.

As a strong supporter of local community organizations and youth programs, Mr. Liu is very active and serves on many boards and committees including the Walnut Valley Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee, Youth Science Center and Helping Hands Ministry for E-Free Church. In his spare time, he teaches entrepreneurship to high school students and often acts as mentor to college students and young entrepreneurs. He enjoys gardening and deejaying for local schools.

Stan Liu holds a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from California State University, Los Angeles, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Azusa Pacific University.

Jody Roberto

Jody and her husband Dave have lived in Diamond Bar since 1986 and have been active members of the community. They have three grown children that were raised in Diamond Bar, and one precious Granddaughter.

Jody retired from the state of California after working for former Senator Bob Huff and now works as a Public Relations consultant in Orange County.

Jody has served on the DBCF board since 2002. She is a Past President of the Diamond Bar Community Foundation; Founding Chair of the Diamond Bar Community Foundation Holiday Gala; Founding organizer of the DBCF/Rotary golf tournament; Founding organizer of the DBCF Beerfest; Chair of the 55th Assembly District Central Committee; Board Member for Boys Republic, Advisory Board Member for Pomona Valley Hospital, and Advisory Board Member for Pacific Crest Youth Organization.

Steve

Steve Tye

Steve Tye was first elected to the Diamond Bar City Council in November 2005 and re-elected in 2009, 2013 and 2018. He is currently serving his fourth term as mayor and previously was mayor in 2007, 2011 and 2015.

Born in Whittier, Mr. Tye graduated from California High School. Mr. Tye earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Administration, graduating cum laude from California State University Dominguez Hills. He and his high school sweetheart, Patricia, moved to Diamond Bar in 1982 and raised their three children – Kelly, Matthew and Jeffrey – here. They have been blessed with two grandchildren.

Tom Huey

Tom is currently a CPA in public practice with Windes, Inc. where he provides audit, assurance, and advisory services. His area of expertise involves providing financial statement audits and financial advisory services for non-profit organizations and privately held companies. He has been associated with the Foundation since 2017 and lives in Diamond Bar with his wife, Angie, and their three young sons.

Stuart Pompel

Stuart was a founding instructor of Pacific Crest in 1993, and serves as the organization’s CEO. In addition to fundraising, donor relations, board cultivation, and program development, Stuart has nurtured relationships between Pacific Crest and community and corporate leaders, and has developed endorsement agreements and partnerships with leaders in the music industry. He is active in Drum Corps International governance, having served on the DCI-Pacific Advisory Board since 1999, as its president from 2005 – 2010, and on the DCI Finance Committee and Audit Committee.

Stuart holds a BA in Social Sciences and a teaching credential from Chapman University in Orange, California. He lives in Placentia California with his wife Ann and two daughters, Maya and Tahlia.

Michael Ramirez

Michael Ramirez owns Insurance Marketing Group and his family have live in Diamond Bar since 2009. On Facebook, Michael established pages for Diamond Bar Neighborhood Watch and Diamond Bar Exchange. He served as a board member for the city’s General Planning Action Committee, and currently serves as a board member with the 55th Assembly District Republican Central Committee.

Gil Rivera is a local Realtor. He has lived and worked in Diamond Bar since 1991. He has raised his family here and his children have participated in youth soccer, baseball, DB4Youth, and the VolunTeen programs. He is currently the President of the Diamond Bar-Walnut Sheriff’s Booster Club.

Camille Jones

Camille and Gil Jones moved to Diamond Bar in 1963. They raised two daughters that are now both married. Louise, the oldest daughter, resides in Hong Kong with her husband and two wonderful children. Camille, the oldest granddaughter, is currently a student at Hong Kong University. Isabel (Izzy), the youngest granddaughter, graduated from the University of New South Wales in Australia with an equivalent US master’s degree and is now working in International Law. Kimberley (Kim) the youngest daughter graduated from Scripts College in Clairmont, California. Kimberley is now married and living in London England.

Camille is retired and previously worked in Los Angeles with MBF Sports Manufacturing in charge of the Softball Division. She later started her own company called ECS Sports specializing in girls and women’s uniforms.

In the late sixties, Camille became involved in the Diamond Bar Girls Softball League as a manager and served in several board positions. She continued with the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) which has been renamed USA Softball, who selects our National Olympics Softball teams. She served as a commissioner, then developed the Player’s Association and became the Marketing Director, then served as the Southern CA Deputy State Commissioner and National Voting Member.

Camille is currently serving as an active board member of the Diamond Bar Friends of the Library and Miss Diamond Bar Scholarship Pageant.

Surendra Mehta

Surendra Mehta is a retired Mechanical Engineer, Certified Yoga Therapist and Registered Yoga Teacher. He has been volunteering in Diamond Bar and Los Angeles County since 1979.

In 2014, Surendra was recognized for Outstanding Volunteer Service for Seniors in the County of Los Angeles by the Board of Supervisors. His passion is to teach yoga, stay healthy and help others do the same. Surendra currently teaches Breath Work (Pranayama) and Meditation to all age groups.

Veena Mehta

Veena Mehta and her husband, Surendra, have lived in Diamond Bar since 1988, They have two adult married sons and two lovely granddaughters.

Veena retired in 2005 and since then, has worked to better her community. In additional to serving meals a local homeless shelter, she has served as Trustee and Treasurer for Arya Samaj Of Southern California. She is also a donor, member, and Trustee of Sunshine Seniors Association, Diamond Bar, where she helped the organization grow. She loves to serve the community, which is why she is proud to serve on the Board of the Diamond Bar Community Foundation.

Mahendra Garg

Mahendra was a Professional Electrical Engineer registered in state of California. He is now retired as of December 2009. He has worked in different capacities for approximately 40 years (20 years in Private Sector & 20 years in Public Sector).

In Public Sector Mahendra has coordinated with City Council and Planning Commission in City of Anaheim on Capital Projects and policy matters.

Mahendra is a strong believer in Community service. As a result, he is now serving in the Diamond Bar Community Foundation, Volunteering in Friends of Library Organization and serving his neighborhood as a captain of Neighborhood Watch program.

Ling Ling Chang

Ling Ling Chang is a former Diamond Bar City Councilwoman, California State Assemblywoman and California State Senator. Taiwanese-American Ling Ling Chang was the only Asian-American female in the California Legislature. Ling was raised in the city of Diamond Bar and mentors its young future leaders.

Lew Herndon

Lew Herndon retired as an entrepreneur after 34 years of owning and operating a board game and jigsaw puzzle company. The company manufactured and marketed products nationally and internationally.

Lew and his wife, Susan, have lived in Diamond Bar for over 40 years and raised a family of 6 children. After retiring, Lew was appointed to the Diamond Bar Parks and Recreation Commission. He also coached the Diamond Ranch Baseball Team for 6 years. He played baseball in high school and was an avid recreational softball player.

Lauren James

Lauren James is Director of Communications for Suburban Water Systems and Co-Founder of the community organization Mama Bears for Change in Diamond Bar, CA.

At Suburban, Lauren is responsible for internal and external communications with customers, stakeholders, community-based organizations, and employees. She is also responsible for the Supplier Diversity program promoting the recruitment and use of women, minorities, disabled veterans, and LGBT-owned business enterprises.

At Mama Bears For Change, Lauren focuses on dismantling systemic and institutionalized discrimination, feeding our most vulnerable, small business support, women’s rights and equality, education reform, criminal justice reform, and gun safety.

Lauren has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations from the University of La Verne and is a proud resident of the City of Diamond Bar where she lives with her husband and two children.

Lee

Lee Mao

Lee Mao’s family immigrated to the United States when Lee was ten years old. Lee and his wife Amy moved to Diamond Bar in 1993, and three years later, welcomed their only child, Rachel. Lee founded LCM Home Fashions, Inc. in 1996, supplying home furnishings and bedding to retailers of all sizes.

After living in Diamond Bar for almost thirty years, Lee and his wife Amy felt in their heart the need to give back to the community and began partnering with Diamond Bar Woman’s Club for an annual Christmas toy drive called Making Spirits Bright which benefits families living on military bases in Southern California. Last year, Lee and his wonderful wife Amy successfully convinced friends and neighbors to donate over one thousand toys and other items to families living at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms in California.

Deon Edwards is the Co-Founder of Team L’Mio, a business designed to educate, train and support student athletes in the areas of athletic, cultural and educational opportunities.

At Team L’Mio, Deon is responsible for guiding student athletes into becoming young authors, entrepreneurs, and community leaders while also maintaining their grades and constantly improving their personal athletic performance.

Deon is also responsible for creating a podcast distribution prototype for socially conscious and modern family content.

Christine Hartung

Christine Hartung has been a Diamond Bar resident since 1978. Christine is the mother of two wonderful daughters that grew up playing sports in Diamond Bar and attended schools in Pomona Unified School District (PUSD). 

Christine served the Diamond Bar community in the 1980s as a member of the Diamond Bar Girls Softball Board of Directors. Christine took that experience and became a District Commissioner for the USA/ASA softball association. She was instrumental in creating the now “C Division” in Southern California which brought equality to the playing field in the game of softball in Southern California. 

Christine retired after 31 years of service to Roadway Express, Inc.

Linda has been a resident of Diamond Bar since 1975. Linda has two adult children, Kristi and Ken that attended schools and played sports in the City of Diamond Bar. Linda is blessed with two grandchildren named Kyle and Kaitlyn. 

Linda retired after thirty-six years of service from the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District. Linda’s volunteer service includes being on the Board of the Miss Diamond Bar Scholarship Pageant, Diamond Bar Woman’s Club and the Diamond Bar Friends of the Library.
